Old Dominion Freight Line Inc. has created a new service for household goods movements. With OD Household Services, the motor carrier delivers the trailer, allowing customers to pack and load their own belongings. Old Dominion then picks up the trailer and delivers it to the designated address. Customers are only charged for the trailer space they use. Old Dominion is drawing on existing resources to operate the service. It will transport household goods on its fleet of pup trailers through a network of 216 domestic service centers. On light or empty lanes, Old Dominion will fill unused trailer space behind household goods with less-than-truckload (LTL) general commodity freight. Old Dominion Freight Line is a national LTL motor carrier providing one- to five-day service among six regions in the U.S., and next- and second-day service within those regions.
