The GAC Group, a global provider of shipping, logistics and marine services, has opened a new regional logistics office in Prague, Czech Republic. The move is part of the group's plan to expand its logistics network in Central and Eastern Europe, the company said. Scheduled to open for business on Nov. 15, the new office is headed up by Gunnar Lundgren, regional logistics manager for Europe, the Mediterranean and Africa. He was previously based in Egypt. He is also responsible for implementing regional sales strategies, reviewing service standards and building relations with customers and partners. A portion of GAC's customer base is already manufacturing or trading in Central and Eastern Europe, Lundgren said, "so it is a natural progression for GAC to open a regional logistics office there." The new operation is augmented in the CEE by offices in Poland and Russia, which offer a full range of freight forwarding and distribution services. GAC Logistics is the freight-forwarding and distribution division of the GAC Group.
