Building upon the member features of the original Freightgate Portal, version 2.0 offers a Full Membership Option, which includes access to the Personal Logistics Web Desktop. Users can deploy object-oriented Web 2.0 architecture to customize their desktops with information specific to their jobs. Such information could include latest headlines, customized news, freight and logistics news archives, page ratings, community boards, shipment tracking, schedules and online documentation. The new portal blends components of the vendor's PLTX platform with new Web 2.0 technologies, supporting the open portlet industry standard JSR 168, as well as RSS.
