Oracle Corp. has made generally available the Oracle WebCenter Suite, a component of Oracle Fusion Middleware. The offering is the latest in a series of products that combine technology from Fusion Middleware and BEA Systems. It enables companies to deliver securely extranet and intranet portals, along with composite applications that integrate processes, content, business intelligence and enterprise application information within a single user interface. WebCenter Suite also allows for delivery of such services as wikis, blogs, discussion forums, secure search and RSS feeds. Oracle WebCenter Suite consists of five modules: Framework, to accelerate the development of context-driven composite applications; Services, supporting the concept of "Enterprise 2.0," which can be embedded directly into existing portals and applications; Interaction (formerly BEA AquaLogic User Interaction), providing social-computing capabilities for heterogeneous environments; Portal, an electronic commerce platform for delivery of targeted user experiences based on past site interactions and user profiles; and Anywhere, a set of wireless and desktop services which enables users to connect with Oracle WebCenter Suite applications from any connected device. Oracle also announced the availability of WebLogic Portal 10g Release 3, and its immediate inclusion in the WebCenter Suite. Both are certified with Oracle Universal Content Management.
