Oracle Corp. has created Oracle Sourcing On Demand, delivered in a software-as-a-service (SaaS) mode. Based on Oracle Sourcing and Oracle Sourcing On Demand, the new application is pre-configured and hosted by Oracle experts. According to the vendor, it helps users to avoid protracted upgrade cycles and security restrictions. Users can complete sourcing events, ensure that agreements are implemented as soon as they are signed, and generate more effective contracts, Oracle said. The product also enables cross-functional collaboration among experts from finance, purchasing and lines of business. It includes packaged integration with procurement applications, such as Oracle Purchasing, to help ensure that the right information is available within the relevant system. Only a browser is needed to utilize Sourcing On Demand. Oracle hosts and manages all of the additional functionality, hardware, databases, servers, firewall settings and pre-configured applications. In addition to standard technical support, the tool provides a dedicated help desk with access to functional experts. Oracle On Demand has been validated to meet SAS70 Type II requirements, the company said.
