Hermes is now the sole owner of the business, which will continue to operate under the name Hermes Russia. Under terms of the agreement, DPD will continue to handle logistics transport services in the country. According to Hermes, the acquisition speeds up efforts to integrate operations within its Continental Parcel Network, which specializes in deliveries to private customers. Hermes Russia intends further to develop its parcel shop infrastructure and establish itself as a partner for distance sellers in the e-commerce market. Hermes' presence in Russia dates back to 2010, when it began providing delivery services for business and private customers. Currently it operates more than 400 parcel shops in the country, 125 of them located in major cities, and 100 situated in the metropolitan area of Moscow. Hermes said it is also increasing collaboration with domestic retailers in Russia, and is engaged in talks with potential e-commerce, fashion and consumer electronics partners interested in the returns service that Hermes introduced in 2014.
