The company said its $2.5m investment was driven by current and forecasted shipment growth from local businesses trading internationally, as well as by electronic-commerce shopping. The 30,000-square-foot facility can process more than 2,500 shipments per hour. Located adjacent to Memphis International Airport, it operates as DHL’s local center for pickup, delivery and sorting of international shipments. It will handle a variety of shipments, including international small parcels and palletized and container freight. DHL’s previous service center in Memphis covered 11,000 square feet.
