In 2014, the number of companies dedicating sustainability resources to supply chain efforts grew 10 percent, according to GreenBiz research. In 2015, that number jumped to 26 percent, showing significant growth in the last two years.

While companies are connecting sustainability and their supply chains, this doesn't seem to be the case with procurement. The number of companies dedicating sustainability resources with procurement functions has actually fallen over the years, the GreenBiz report showed. In 2014, 29 percent of companies embedded sustainability resources within procurement functions. In 2015, just 18 percent of companies reported doing so.
