Schenker AG has taken on the job of logistics partner for Miele, a global leader in the sale of home appliances and commercial cleaning equipment, in Finland. On Jan. 1, Miele's spare-parts activities were shifted to Schenker's premises in Helsinki. Schenker Express, the company's wholly owned parcel service, is delivering all Miele spare parts throughout the country. In April of this year, Miele's remaining warehouse activities, currently located in the city of Hanko, will move to Schenker's new multimodal logistics center at the port of Turku. The complex offers transportation by truck, air, ship and rail, while also acting as a distribution center. Schenker will continue as the national distributor of Miele's products in Finland, the principals said. Schenker also provides home-delivery service for Miele products, which include vacuum cleaners; washing machines; rotary irons; dishwashers; built-in convection, speed and steam ovens; cooktops; ventilation hoods, and coffee-makers. Under the brand of Miele Professional, the company offers commercial cleaning equipment such as laboratory glassware washers, industrial parts-cleaning systems, dental disinfectors and commercial wet cleaning systems. In Finland, Schenker provides both European and national land transport services, as well as contract logistics and supply-chain management. The company employs around 1,800 people in 19 locations through the country.
