Oracle Debuts Four New Apps for Supply-Chain Planning; Expands PLM Offering; Teams With IBM for Mid-Market

April 23, 2008
Oracle Corp

Oracle Corp. has released four new supply-chain planning applications: Oracle Manufacturing Operations Center, Advanced Planning Command Center, Demand Signal Repository and Service Parts Planning. All are part of what Oracle calls its "information-driven value chain" strategy for supply-chain management. Companies can use real-time information to predict market requirements pertaining to demand and risk, adapt to changing business conditions, and align operations globally across the extended supply chain. Oracle Manufacturing Operations Center increases visibility and alignment between shop floor and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems by managing real-time data flows from shop-floor systems and equipment, and transforming them into business information. Demand Signal Repository captures and manages downstream demand data from a variety of sources, such as stores and retail distribution centers, to build a picture of demand that is aligned across the chain. Advanced Planning Command Center offers one integrated system with role-based, analytical dashboards, business-planning scenario management and automated process and task management. Service Parts Planning allows manufacturers to predict demand across different types of service parts, while optimizing replenishment and redistribution across the extended service supply chain. In addition, Oracle has announced version 9.2.2.4 of its Agile Product Lifecycle Management application (formerly known as Agile 9), and version 5.2 of Agile PLM for Process 5.2 (formerly known as Prodika). The latest version of Agile PLM delivers mechatronics support and enhancements to aid in the management of multi-type design objects, as well as the integration of various design systems. In another related announcement, Oracle is teaming up with IBM to serve mid-sized companies. IBM will develop, sell and implement Oracle-based applications for that market. The deal allows IBM and its business-partner channel to provide industry-specific products based on Oracle Applications and IBM hardware and services.
