Shape Corporation, active in automotive and industrial component manufacturing and in roll forming, is using Plexus Online, the on-demand manufacturing performance system from Plexus Systems, Auburn Hills, Mich.
Shape plans to use the system, which can be accessed with a web browser, in metal forming, welding and injection molding production facilities around the world. Plexus Systems says the product contains more than 350 functional modules that allow companies instant access to vital information. Shape is said to be especially interested in utilizing Plexus Online for quality, program management, shop scheduling, reporting and shipping processes. "We need a solution that provides complete visibility of the entire enterprise from the shop floor to the top floor," says Bob Currier, vice president of operations at Shape Corporation. "Plexus offers a complete system that will allow us to eliminate many stand-alone databases and is fairly intuitive to use as compared with the other solutions. The completely hosted system made us nervous at first, but after visiting the Plexus data center, we realized that it will contribute to the ROI in the long run."
