DSC Logistics says it's been awarded a three-year contract to provide logistics services to Merisant, a global marketer of low-calorie tabletop sweeteners.

DSC ships Merisant's Equal Sweetener products arriving from manufacturing plants in Illinois and Mexico to such retailers as Publix, Albertson's, Super Valu, Meijer and Winn Dixie. DSC is providing all inbound and outbound transportation services, as well as transportation management (including freight tendering, freight bill auditing and carrier selection).

"DSC was awarded the business for a number of reasons; primarily our ability to manage their network needs and provide data to 'manage the category'," says Ann Drake, DSC's CEO. "DSC provided both a distribution model that would improve service and curb costs and a technology platform to manage their category with quick and accurate reporting. Corporate culture was also important to Merisant as they were looking to enter into a solid long-term partnership."
