Eurostar trains faced further delays late into June 25, after vandalism on a rail line in northern France caused cancellations of high-speed services between Paris and London.

Several services were scrapped and delayed in both directions on the morning of June 25, Eurostar said in a statement. The operator cited a theft of cable near Lille. 

Though most trains were running again by afternoon after emergency repairs, “some delays” were still expected, Eurostar said. The company, which also runs trains linking London to Brussels and Amsterdam via the Channel Tunnel, advised customers to postpone trips, and offered free exchanges and refunds to those affected.

Earlier on June 25, passengers reported long waits at stations. 

Scott Westron’s journey from Paris to London was postponed by nine hours after his morning train was canceled and later services were delayed. The Gare du Nord in Paris was “packed” with “people sitting on the floor,” said Westron, a business developer, who had to rearrange client meetings due to disruptions.

It was the second day of disruption. Journeys were also delayed and canceled on June 24, after there were two fatalities on the high-speed line between Lille and Paris, Eurostar said in a post on X.
