Schneider National, Inc., the privately held truckload carrier and logistics provider, has extended its regional service to the south-central region of the U.S. The addition brings Schneider's regional presence to 16 states in less than a year since it began offering the service. The latest expansion includes an additional 500 trucks and more drivers in the company's regional fleet. Schneider first launched its regional service to customers in the western U.S. in January of 2008. Initially, it offered coverage of a seven-state area, encompassing Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington. The new south-central regional service adds nine states, including Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama. Regional terminals will be located in Dallas, Houston and Memphis, serving as hubs for customer service representatives and regionally based drivers. In a related development, the company's logistics-services arm, Schneider Logistics, Inc., has opened five new freight-forwarding offices at gateway locations in the U.S. and Europe. They include Chicago, Atlanta and New York in the U.S., and Rotterdam and Amsterdam in Europe. The company already has a presence in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle and Miami. Services provided by Schneider Logistics include transportation management, freight brokerage, air and ocean freight forwarding, customs brokerage, transloading, distribution, supply-chain management, freight audit and payment, and related advisory services.
