The Windows Mobile 6 Standard operating system is now available on the Dolphin 7600 mobile computer from Honeywell. The software offers integration with a number of other Microsoft applications, including Office, Internet Explorer Mobile, Exchange and Outlook, and SQL Server. Upgrades and enhancements to the OS are present in storage, secure communications and remote access, Honeywell said. The vendor's flashlight-sized Dolphin 7600 features ergonomic design and long battery life, enabled by Shift-PLUS technology. The incorporated Adaptus Imaging Technology 5.0 allows the 7600 to read 1D and 2D barcodes, optical character reader (OCR) fonts and images. Honeywell continues to offer Windows CE 5 as an option. It also offers Windows Mobile 6 Professional. In a related development, Honeywell has made available an enhanced MS7580 Genesis scanner for retail applications. Retailers now have the option of purchasing MS7580 Genesis kits that support EAS deactivation. The enhancement merges the traditional two-step retail checkout experience into a single-swipe process, Honeywell said.
