MOL (America) Inc. is planning to roll out Gator Guarantee, a service that is intended ensure the on-time arrival of ocean shipments in the U.S. Beginning May 1, Gator Guarantee will provide shippers with a service guarantee on two of the carrier's vessel strings, the Pacific Southwest Express (PSX) and Japan-American Shuttle (JAS). The service will be offered to major U.S. destinations, including New York, Chicago, Memphis, Dallas and Atlanta. Under the agreement, MOL will deliver, for an additional fee, cargo by the stated date. Shippers are eligible for a full fee refund, as well as an additional compensatory amount, if the shipment does not arrive on schedule. Gator Guarantee will be available in MOL's tariff for all customers, but can also be included in individual service contracts. MOL said its analysis of the market showed the need for a more cost-effective, time-definite service for ocean freight. Gator Guarantee is being offered in conjunction with the BNSF Railway, which operates the Hobart intermodal terminal near the Port of Los Angeles.
