ILOG, an IBM company, has devised several new products for business-rule and supply-chain management. They are intended to provide companies in a number of industries--including banking, insurance, airlines, healthcare, government and manufacturing - with tools for making better business decisions based on data. Version 7.0 of IBM WebSphere ILOG JRules is part of the vendor's BRMS (Business Rules Management System) product line for the Java platform. It is intended to make rule-authoring easier and more intuitive for users, through the integration of ILOG's Rule Solutions for Office with Microsoft Office Word and Excel. The release includes improvements for automating decisions in legacy applications running on mainframe systems. Version 7.0 of IBM WebSphere ILOG Rules for .NET is designed for the Microsoft .NET platform; it adds the vendor's BRMS rule repository and the IBM WebSphere ILOG Rule Team Server environment. Version 7.0 of IBM ILOG LogicNet Plus XE is a supply-chain design and planning application, which allows for measurement and optimization of a supply chain's carbon footprint, taking into account production, transportation, warehousing and other supply-chain costs. Version 3.2 of IBM ILOG Plant PowerOps is an integrated application for production planning and scheduling. It allows customers to run additional "what-if" business scenarios.
