Exel has signed a three-year contract extension with Rohm and Haas, a leading producer of specialty materials, to continue providing multiple contract logistics services at two Louisville, Ky., facilities.
A fast-moving and agile supply chain is necessary to achieve growth in a market faced with increasing customer service and raw material cost pressures, says Keith Okolichany, logistics category manager for Rohm and Haas.
"In the face of year-on-year material cost increases, we are challenged to identify areas in our business where cost efficiencies can be realized," Okolichany says. "One of these areas is inventory management within the supply chain. As part of this evaluation and as a key enabler of the early extension, Exel made productivity enhancements to the Louisville facilities and provided lease terms that will deliver efficiencies during the length of the contract."
Rohm and Haas is one of the largest manufacturers of specialty chemicals serving global markets in paint and coatings, electronics, household products, detergents and personal care products.
Exel's chemical and industrial sector associates perform warehousing and distribution services for multiple Rohm and Haas businesses at a plant warehouse and regional distribution center serving the Midwest. At the regional distribution center, Exel also provides customer management services to Rohm and Haas customers and carriers.
Exel, which is part of the DHL Logistics Division, also operates the Rohm and Haas regional distribution center in Houston. Additionally, the division serves the specialty materials producer through its DHL Exel Supply Chain business in Europe and DHL Global Forwarding business in Asia Pacific.
