KSW Microtec AG, a supplier of radio frequency identification (RFID) components and inlays for secure cards and documents, has received the MasterCard certification for its facilities and production process. KSW Microtec has been offering RFID components and the ultra-thin cards known as Thinlams for high-security applications in electronic banking and government. The company has now made its production environment compliant with the EAL 5+ security standard at its headquarters in Dresden, Germany. The certification will allow it to offer a new generation of Thinlam with microcontrollers for electronic personal identity (eID) cards and ePassport inlays manufactured in Germany. KSW Microtec expects to add Visa certification in 2010. The company makes components for applications such as electronic ticketing and payment, asset management, access control and high security.
