DuPont's inventory optimization program is all about improving inventory productivity and building sustainable inventory planning processes while maintaining and improving customer service levels. DuPont's implementation of SmartOps Enterprise Inventory Optimization (EIO) began in 2009 with the successful rollout to eight business units. The first phase of the implementation focused on using SmartOps EIO in an attended mode. This approached allowed planners to implement a sustainable process for extracting supply chain data from SAP and other systems to SmartOps EIO and then to transfer the optimized results back to SAP for execution. We will share some of the technical aspects dealing with data, architecture, integration and implementation and discuss business process improvements that are impacting inventory targets and customer service levels.
