Panalpina, the global freight forwarding and logistics services provider, is commencing several new air-freight services. The routes will connect Luxembourg with South Africa, Dubai and Hong Kong, as well as cover the trans-Pacific route to Huntsville, Ala., complementing the provider's 20-year-old trans-Atlantic service known as Dixie Jet. The all-cargo service will be operated by Atlas Air, using a Boeing 747-400F aircraft. The flights will cover parts of Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and North America. Panalpina said it has signed a multi-year aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance (ACMI) lease agreement with Atlas Air. The additional freighter capacity allows Panalpina to adjust rotations according to market needs, while supplementing its existing trans-Atlantic service. The Dixie Jet service links Panalpina hubs in Luxembourg and Huntsville. It, too, operates under an agreement with Atlas Air, using a Boeing 747-400F aircraft. The service offers several weekly frequencies, serving the southern, central and southeast U.S. via an exclusive road feeder service. It also serves Mexico City, Guadalajara and London Stansted.
