Elon Musk and other conservative activists blame some of the planemaker's problems with aircraft quality on its decision to add diversity goals to its bonus targets in 2022.

The union had previously called for a 40% pay increase and workers have rejected two previous offers.

While Boeing’s latest 35% pay offer was a bump from its initial 25% increase, workers are still angered by the failure to reinstate their defined-benefit pension plan.  

A tentative deal between Boeing and the union doesn’t guarantee that workers will also fall in line.

Boeing is in the process of buying back Spirit after an ill-fated separation almost two decades ago.

In September, the National Transportation Safety Board issued an “urgent” recommendation to the FAA about a problem with rudders that pilots use to steer certain Boeing 737s after landing.

Boeing has already initiated a range of cost-cutting plans as it grapples with dwindling reserves and low output.

Talks collapsed with both parties locked in an acrimonious stalemate showing no signs of a rapid solution.

If the strike continues toward the end of the year, a credit rating downgrade is more likely, according to S&P. 

By 2054, JKIA is expected to handle 32 million passengers and nearly one million tons of cargo, compared to 8.6 million passengers and 367,000 tons of cargo currently.
