Third-Party Logistics Provider, Kane Is Able, Announces New Board of Directors

December 22, 2010

SCRANTON, PA - December 22, 2010 - Kane is Able, Inc. (KANE) today announced its new Board of Directors.  The Board combines two pre-existing entities: the company owners and KANE's advisory board.  The integration of the two marks the first time non-family members will have a vote in determining company direction and strategy.  The Board will provide guidance and accountability to the operations leadership team as the company focuses on the future.

The Board of Directors includes Kane family members Joan Kane, Kathleen Calpin, Richard Kane, Eugene Kane, Jr., Christopher Kane, Edward Kane, Michael Kane, and Kelly Stark.

Lee Stucky, retail industry executive and former Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for Wal-Mart International, will serve as Board Chairman.  Stucky was hand-selected for the Chairmanship role by Gene Kane, the former Board Chairman who passed away recently at the age of 80.

Joining Stucky on the Board are:

• Martin C. Murphy, supply chain executive with more than 30 years in consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry leadership roles within finance, procurement and logistics

• Tom Escott, logistics industry veteran and past president of Schneider Logistics

• Tom Speh, Associate Director of MBA programs at Miami University and past president of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals

• Tom Hall, senior operating executive with experience in global business management, operations, strategic planning, financial management, and personnel development

Richard Kane, President and CEO of Kane Is Able, says "We pride ourselves in being a family-owned, professionally managed company.  The new Board is the next logical step in our company's growth and will help propel us into the future."  Kane added, "It's important to continue to grow the company the 'Gene Kane way,'" referring to his father, "taking care of our customers by providing exceptional service wrapped in a culture of honesty, integrity, and treating customers like family.  Gene Kane set the wheels in motion for the new Board structure, which will be an important and lasting part of his powerful legacy."

Eugene J. Kane, Sr. took over his father's freight business in 1955.  He took a two-truck operation, added supply chain services like warehousing, distribution, and packaging, and transformed KANE from a regional trucking company into a national third-party logistics provider with more than 1,000 tractors and trailers and 8.5 million square feet of distribution center space across the country.
