Panasonic Solutions Co. has developed the Panasonic Toughbook S10. Featuring an Intel Core i5-2520M vPro processor, the notebook computer offers up to 12.5 hours of standard battery life and weighs only three pounds, the company said. The device includes optional Gobi2000 mobile broadband and supports both USB 3.0 and 2.0, analog (VGA) and digital (HDMI) video, equipped with the latest SD card standard to enable faster file-transfer speeds and greater flexibility. Security features include an optional fingerprint reader. The unit was designed to survive drops of up to 30 inches, and features a spill-resistant keyboard. The Toughbook S10 runs on Windows 7 Professional and has a 12.1-inch, widescreen LCD display with LED backlighting. Panasonic expects the unit to be available in September of 2011 from authorized resellers.
