CAPS Research releases its highly regarded Cross-Industry Metric Report of Standard Benchmarks for December 2011. This report includes key performance indicators for different industry sectors, including total spend as a percent of revenue and the percent of total spend managed/controlled by the supply management organization, average operating expense per supply management employee, cost reduction and avoidance metrics, purchase order cycle times, and average total spend per supply management employee.
The cross-industry report, published twice-yearly, includes data provided by more than 240 different companies representing 11 different industry sectors on 20 commonly referenced benchmarks.
In June 2011 the average operating expense per supply management employee was reported as $126,059 compared to $123,371 reported in December 2011. The reduction, although not a significant change from a cross-industry perspective, is a result of data provided by additional companies not represented in the June report.
