River Logic, Inc., a vendor of planning and optimization software, has developed a new version of its flagship product, Enterprise Optimizer (EO). The tool allows companies quickly to identify decisions that will have the greatest impact on financial performance. It can model any business from operational and financial perspectives simultaneously, River Logic claimed. The new EO features detailed unit-cost capability, to help users conduct in-depth financial product analyses throughout the order-management process. They can track product cost and profitability by customer at various levels of the supply chain. A sequencing component allows companies to sequence activities, taking into account the impact of one activity on the next. EO also allows for pooling, whereby manufacturers can determine the financial impact of multi-level operations. The new version of EO integrates with Microsoft Office, allowing end users to exchange data and operate between the two applications. It also permits the transfer of data to and from databases, flat files and Web services.
