Recognizing the need for one logistics system that will meet the need of all units, the U.S. Army has decided to adopt an enterprise resource planning system developed by SAP. The hope is that the new system will revolutionize Army logistics automation. The only revolutionary step taken in Army logistics in the last 30 years has been the automation of the service's manual supply system at the unit level. But new guidance states that Army logistics systems will move to an off-the-shelf software product.
