In a separate development, the suspension of Mexicana has not affected the cargo market significantly. One reason is that the cargo arm of the carrier has been reconfigured and is called Aeromexico Cargo. Raymundo Tenorio Aguilar, director of the business school in Monterrey, indicated that cargo was a secondary business for Mexicana and its disappearance has not negatively affected the cargo subsidiary, which is now part of Aeromexico. In January 2012 Aeromexico Cargo began operations. During the third quarter of 2012, its revenues increased 150 percent.
Also, Etihad Cargo has launched a weekly freighter service from Abu Dhabi to Doha. The new service will operate with a A300-600F freighter, with a capacity of 42 metric tons. The airline already operates 26 weekly Airbus A319, A320 and A330 passenger services between the two cities. David Kerr, vice president of Etihad Cargo, said: "We are delighted to launch our first dedicated freighter service to Doha, and believe that it will further strengthen the trade between the UAE and Qatar." The airline operates a total of 86 destinations internationally. The cargo division of the UAE flag carrier operates a fleet of six freighters, consisting of one Airbus A300-600F, two Airbus A330-200F, one MD-11F, one Boeing 777F and one Boeing 747-400F.
