ToolsGroup and Insight, Inc. have teamed up to offer both supply-chain network and inventory optimization for large, global companies. ToolsGroup sells inventory-optimization software, while Insight is a provider of planning systems for supply-chain design. Together they will market their products in industries such as food and beverage, consumer goods, chemical and petroleum, manufacturing and parts distribution. The arrangement combines ToolsGroup's DPM inventory-optimization technology with SAILS, Insight's supply-chain planning suite. As a result, the companies said, customers will be able to rationalize their end-to-end distribution networks, while simultaneously optimizing their inventory. They can better determine optimal logistics efficiencies, eliminate costs and mitigate risks within the supply chain, according to Insight president Jeffrey Karrenbauer.
