The idle fleet stood at 182 units, aggregating to 387,000 TEU and representing 2.3 percent of the total number of container ships, Alphaliner statistics show. It said that the main group of vessels without employment would be those below 5,000 TEU.

Meanwhile, the number of idle post-Panamax vessels has dropped to four and includes two sister ships of the 7,041-TEU MOL Comfort that sank in the Indian Ocean in June after its hull broke in two and a fire broke out on board.
