The offering was created in response to demand by pharmaceutical customers for a "total supply-chain service," Yusen said. It offers a door-to-door pallet rate structure for consignments, which can range from a single pallet to a dedicated container. And it includes a complete audit trail for temperature control and security. Pickups will be made throughout Europe by Yusen's "Superhighway" network, and delivered into the provider's European pharmaceutical hub in Antwerp, Belgium. Weekly sailings will depart from the Port of Antwerp direct to Cape Town, South Africa, where product will be pre-cleared and offloaded into HIS's local warehouse. Quality sampling can be performed on request. The new service begins in January of 2014. Yusen said it will launch similar services for East and West Africa later in the year.
