Terra Technology, a vendor of demand-sensing and inventory-optimization software for consumer products companies, has opened an office in the Chicago metropolitan area. The move is intended to support growth in the region experienced by Terra over the last year. The office, which is expected to grow to include 15 employees over the next two years, is being headed up by Hongliang Dai, Terra's vice president of development. The company said it selected the Chicago area because of its proximity to a large number of consumer products companies--including two of Terra's largest clients--and easy access to O'Hare International Airport. Terra's products work with traditional planning systems to monitor demand signals and reduce forecast error. The company is based in Norwalk, CT.
