The new entity moves more than 1 billion pounds of freight and mail annually. The cargo teams began combining 154 facilities and harmonizing products in December of 2013, creating the first operations division at the airline to be fully integrated. Cargo customers now have access to flights across the combined network, according to Jim Butler, president of American Airlines Cargo, the holding company for American Airlines and US Airways. Together, along with wholly owned and third-party regional carriers, the airlines operate an average of nearly 6,700 flights per day to 330 destinations in 54 countries.
