With 491,000 square feet of office and warehouse space, the three-story facility is the largest free-standing building in DHL Global Forwarding’s worldwide network, the company said. It is located within the Chicago O’Hare International Airport’s cargo zone, DHL Global Forwarding’s largest air export gateway. The year-long project includes a bonded container freight station and foreign trade zone. Also part of the site are two temperature-controlled chambers that offer a combined 10,000 square feet of space, along with and a 999-square-foot ambient receiving area. The Chicago facility is validated under the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) program, as well as certified for cargo screening by the Transportation Security Administration. It is expected to receive Transported Asset Protection Association Americas (TAPA-A) certification in the second quarter of 2015.
