Amber Road has released the Air Rate Manager, an on-demand service that automates the logistics process for airfreight. According to the vendor, the tool allows shippers and logistics providers to make better routing and carrier selections, expedite the audit of air waybills and control international transportation spend. A module within Amber Roads' International Transportation Management software suite, Air Rate Manager is delivered over the internet as an on-demand application. It provides access to real-time rating, routing and carrier information. Each rate is linked to all applicable assessorials, including fuel and security surcharges. Users get access to one centralized system for up-to-date information on airfreight rates and services, including contract, tariff and spot rates. A rules-based calculation engine allows for the determination of full shipment costs that include airfreight, pickup and delivery rates, and assessorials. Companies can compare alternative services by carrier, point pair, rate type, commodity, hazardous designations and transit time. They can also audit air waybills against applicable rates and assessorials, to resolve billing discrepancies.
