Vitronic Machine Vision Ltd., a supplier of automated identification systems for the parcel industry, has launched a new vision scanner in its Vipac product line. Vipac is a compact, high-resolution, 3D machine vision scanner, of which the new Vicam ssi2 is a core camera component. The new product offers a smaller, faster, lighter and more powerful tool for users, according to the company. It can detect and read a higher depth of field without the camera changing focus. Other features include improved resolution at higher speeds and "one man-operation" maintenance, with lighter and more easily replaceable components. The Vicam ssi2 utilizes a device known as the Volmec HS2S, capable of volume measure for scanned parcels. Image quality has been enhanced in terms of brightness and uniformity, with the light intensity automatically adjusted for different object orientations. The focus mechanism instantly adapts to higher speeds. The Vicam ssi2 is 35 percent shorter and lighter than previous models, Vitronic said.
