How does the world’s largest retailer protect itself against a slew of supply chain disruptions?
The massive global supply chain that supports the brick-and-mortar and online fulfillment operations of Walmart is subject to countless disruptions. All retailers, of course, face the same challenges, but the size and scope of Walmart, with $635 billion of revenue and more than 10,000 stores across 19 countries, make it especially vulnerable to supply interruptions. On this episode, we explore Walmart’s strategy for achieving supply chain resilience in the face of such uncertainty, with the help of Parvez Musani, senior vice president of end-to-end fulfillment with Walmart U.S. In particular, he discusses the innovative technologies, including artificial intelligence and digital twins, that are helping the retailer to envision and prepare for the various scenarios that might arise due to factors such as extreme weather events. He also talks about how Walmart’s resilience strategy has had to adjust in the post-pandemic years. Hosted by Bob Bowman, Editor-in-Chief of SupplyChainBrain.
