TNT, the global express carrier, plans to add eight branches to its international express network in China by the end of the year. The action will bring to 34 the total number of express branches in that country. Through its wholly owned subsidiary Tiandi-Hoau, TNT also operates a private domestic road network in China, consisting of 1,250 depots. The eight new branches, most of which will be located in the Pearl River Delta and Yangtze River Delta areas, will allow TNT to boost business in China's fastest-growing economic regions, the company said. The TNT International Express Branches at Dongguan and Zhongshan will begin operations at the end of September. They follow the opening of two branches in Foshan and Shunde, which started up in August and September, respectively. Another four branches will be established in Nanning, Wenzhou, Kunshan and Shanghai Pudong by the end of the year. TNT uses a dedicated Boeing 747-400ERF aircraft, flying four times a week between Shanghai and its European "superhub" in Amsterdam, to serve the China market.
