Casual fashion giant Nike says it will raise the prices of some products from June 1, with the increases hitting everything from shoes to clothing. BBC News reports that most Nike shoes that cost more than $100 will see prices rise by as much as $10.
Nike said it is making the changes as part of "seasonal planning" and did not mention U.S President Donald Trump's tariffs policies that have upended global trade. In April, Nike’s competitor, Adidas, warned that levies imposed by Trump will lead to higher prices in the U.S.
The firm also said it intends to sell products directly through Amazon in the U.S for the first time since 2019.
According to CNBC, prices for Nike apparel and equipment for adults will increase between $2 and $10, a person familiar with the matter told the news outlet. Footwear priced between $100 and $150 will see a hike of $5, while sneakers priced above $150 will see a $10 increase, the person said.
The price hikes will be in effect by June 1, but could be seen on shelves sooner, the person said. The prices of children’s products will not increase, nor will items that are priced under $100, according to the person.

Almost all Nike trainers are made in Asia, and the brand relies heavily on the U.S for sales. Imports from Vietnam, Indonesia and China into the U.S. face some of the heaviest U.S import taxes, which may or may not be reinstated after a 90-day pause was announced April 9 — between 32% and 54%.
“We regularly evaluate our business and make pricing adjustments as part of our seasonal planning,” Nike said in identical statements sent to various media outlets.
