Aljex Software, Inc. has added a document-management upgrade to its Web-based transportation-management software. The change speeds the handling of signed delivery receipts. When delivery receipts are scanned on the road and sent electronically, the carrier or broker can bill the customer in the same manner. Users don't need to wait for a truck to arrive at a company location with paperwork. The system can cut days or even weeks out of the billing cycle, Aljex claimed. The upgrade is being applied to both Aljex software options, Aljex Classic and Aljex TIN (Transportation Intermediary Network), which includes mapping. Because Aljex is hosted over the internet, the update is available to all customers of each version at the same time and at no extra charge. Aljex technology allows for the saving, searching and accessing of documents in just one or two keystrokes. Users can save any digitized document directly to a shipment folder, where it can be accessed instantly. Documents can be in any digital format. They can be easily attached to customer bills, and e-mailed or printed and sent with billing through regular mail. The upgrade can be used to manage other types of digital files as well, including digital photos of damaged freight and accident scenes.
