Exel has created a multi-client distribution and fulfillment center network for customers in the technology and aerospace industries. The offering comprises six facilities in Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles and Memphis. The goal, said Exel, is to help businesses locate material and finished-product inventory closer to their customers' consumption points. Each facility is equipped with a tier-one, Web-based warehouse-management system, which provides full inventory visibility and order-management capabilities. Exel's expertise in multi-client facilities also extends to life sciences, retail and other industries. The network can help manufacturers launching new products or expanding markets, start-up companies needing more accurate volume forecasts, and businesses of all sizes requiring seasonal logistics capacity to meet holiday demand, Exel said. The company expects further to expand the offering's reach in strategic locations around the U.S. and Canada in 2009.
