CarrierWeb, a provider of mobile communications and information-management services, has launched ReeferMate. The new product helps companies to monitor and control their refrigerated transportation equipment in real time. ReeferMate interfaces directly with the microprocessor controllers of reefer units provided by all major manufacturers, CarrierWeb said. Built from rugged, weatherproof components, it mounts in the cowling of the reefer compartment, to support "always-on" monitoring. The device ties directly into the reefer power source or via the seven-way hitch, allowing for real-time position, fuel and door monitoring when the reefer unit is turned off. Users can monitor a reefer's operating state, temperature, alarms, alarm-disposition clearing, power and battery status, and fuel level. Exception events such as late arrival, fuel changes and route deviations are reported in real time, and can be configured according to the needs of the appropriate personnel. All information can be integrated into a fleet's internal operations system, in addition to being available on CarrierWeb's website.
