Ryder System Inc. has entered into a joint-venture partnership with Cargo Services Far East Limited (CSFE), a logistics services provider based in Asia, and specializing in export consolidation services. According to Ryder, the deal will create an end-to-end offering with geographic coverage throughout Asia. Services will be aimed at North American retailers and other companies importing from Asia. Operating as Ryder Supply Chain Solutions Asia, the venture will provide vendor and purchase-order management, inland transport, export consolidation and various order fulfillment services, including distribution-center bypass and store-ready pallet construction from Asia to North America. The move follows Ryder's recent acquisition of CRSA Logistics, which manages end-to-end transportation and supply-chain activities across the Pacific for Canadian retailers. Founded in 1990 by John Lau, CSFE is ISO 9001:2000 certified. It is a vendor of Asia-based origin services for major retailers in Australia and the U.K. Ryder provides transportation, logistics and supply-chain management services on a global basis.
