CargoWise, a provider of technology for logistics service providers, has entered into a joint venture with Compu-Clearing Outsourcing Limited, which sells technology and services to the customs clearing, freight forwarding, air cargo and related industries for the South African market. The partnership will provide customers of both companies with enhanced South African customs integration to CargoWise's ediEnterprise system, as well as other functionality specific to the country, such as Portnet. The companies have been working together for some time to bring CargoWise's flagship product to the South African market, according to CargoWise CEO Richard White. CargoWise has customs connections in the U.K., Germany, U.S., Singapore, New Zealand and Australia; it expects soon to add Canada and South Africa. The company claims to supply a single management platform for some 1,300 logistics service providers, consisting of 33,000 users in 45 countries.
