Cell phone manufacturer Kyocera Wireless Corp. (KWC) has awarded BAX Global a warehouse management contract in Hong Kong.
Kyocera has been a long-term customer of BAX for airfreight services, and expanded the relationship with the new WMS contract. BAX says this new Hong Kong facility will help to streamline shipments of phones produced in mainland China direct to KWC customers, bypassing the need for U.S. warehousing and distribution hubs.
Dennis Chesnut, Kyocera Wireless Corp.'s senior manager of distribution says, "The pace of our business creates significant demand on our design and manufacturing resources. Our collaboration with BAX Global allows us to focus on this core business, knowing that the transportation solutions are well established from an operational and IT systems perspective."
BAX Global, which recently merged with Schenker, is a part of DB Logistics, the transportation and logistics division of Deutsche Bahn AG.
