Grace Medical Center Uses ZulaFly RTLS to Prevent Food, Medication Loss

Grace Medical Center, a 123-bed hospital in the Grace Health System, has prevented $15,000 in food from spoiling since August by installing a real-time location system (RTLS) to monitor the temperatures of refrigerators and freezers, the hospital says. The system, made by ZulaFly, consists of the company's own cloud-hosted Fuzion software platform to capture data from CenTrak RFID temperature sensors.

Consumer Spending Rebounds With Biggest Jump Since June

Consumer spending rebounded strongly in September, rising the most in three months as incomes also improved, the Commerce Department said this week. The 0.5 percent jump in personal consumption expenditures provided momentum for a key driver of the U.S. economy heading into the year's final quarter and could push the Federal Reserve closer to another small interest rate hike.

Prices paid by U.S. businesses for goods and services increased more than expected in September, economists said, amid other signs that inflationary pressures may be increasing. The Labor Department said its producer price index was up 0.3 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis compared with August. Economists surveyed by The Wall Street Journal had expected a 0.2 percent increase.
