Walmart has built a vending machine style tower at its Bentonville, Arkansas, location that the retailer claims fulfills shoppers BOPIS orders seamlessly and automatically.
According to Business Insider, when a customer approaches the giant product-filled tower, they simply enter their online order number and the machine produces their products out of a vending machine style shoot.
While Walmart is still piloting the new in-store fulfillment technology the tower can potentially solve one of the key challenges retailers face with BOPIS - speedy, seamless, accurate order fulfillment.
"We know speed and convenience are important to our customers, and we're always looking for new ways to bring it to them," Walmart spokesman Kory Lundberg told Business Insider.
