Diego Pantoja-Navajas, chief executive officer of LogFire, explains the concept behind digital fulfillment networks, and details how they can lead to the transmission of real-time, "perpetual" inventory signals throughout the supply chain.

At the heart of everything omnichannel is inventory. The customer needs to be able to get the merchandise they want, when they want it, and through their channel of choice. There has to be inventory visibility across channels, so stores, warehouses and distribution centers can see real-time inventory levels as part of the order fulfillment process. And finally, in order to actually fulfill orders in a timely and efficient manner, inventory needs to be shared across channels.

The British Health and Safety Executive (HSE) are putting in motion plans that will change Britain's role in world manufacturing, for better or for worse. In its annual report, HSE proudly announced that they had removed 84 per cent of their regulations without compromising on safety. Depending on how you interpret the statistics, this has either made the UK a much stronger player in international trade or has taken the UK two steps backwards.
