Boeing Commercial Airplanes has issued a 20-year outlook for global air-cargo traffic, calling for a consolidated annual growth rate of 4.2 percent in volume (evaluated in metric tonnage), and saying this increase will result in significant demand for new and converted cargo jets needed to meet market demand by 2035.

Ocean Alliance Announces Expanded Trading Network

The members of the new Ocean Alliance, CMA CGM, COSCO Container Lines, Evergreen Line and Orient Overseas Container Line, have announced their proposed "day one" trading network. The Alliance is the largest shipping alliance in the world, and the partners will operate 40 services on the East-West trades with around 100 ports of call and almost 500 port pairs.

DHL has expanded its footprint in Southern California to accommodate a growing demand for its global shipping services, the logistics company announced. The new 66,730-square-foot service center in Santa Ana adds more than 27,000 square feet to the company's previous facility in Irvine, and reflects an increase in shipment volumes that DHL is handling.

Major Carriers Forecast Significant Growth in Holiday Shipping Volume

UPS, FedEx and the U.S. Postal Service are all projecting major growth in holiday shipping volume during the peak season, driven by the continued boom in ecommerce activity. UPS, for example, is projecting 700 million deliveries between Thanksgiving and the end of the year, a 14 percent increase over 2015.
