Four Soft Limited has launched 4S Visilog, a collaborative Web portal, enabled by global positioning system (GPS) technology. The tool relies on system tracking devices which communicate with GPS satellites to obtain real-time event information on shipments in transit. It is designed to provide automated alerts as well as visibility across the supply chain. The portal integrates customers, vendors, agents and partners. It makes possible the identification of fleet inefficiencies and under-used trucks in the fleet. Other features include a command-and-control center for global logistics operations, and statistical reports to provide insight on fleet management. Users can check on shipment locations on a real-time basis. The system will automatically send out alerts on changes in route plan, speed, temperature (for perishable goods), idle time and fuel consumption, as well as pilferage and excessive stoppage. It can also enable the plotting of truck paths for specific time intervals.
